Special Fossil Exhibition at Glenside Museum

Local fossils collected from beneath your feet.

Steve England has been discovering and collecting fossils from Stoke Park and Frome Valley for many years. A selection from his fantastic collection is on display in the museum.

Come and touch the fossilised remains of giant trees. They are  300 million years old and tell us that the valley was once a tropical rain forest.  Other fossils show that later, 150 -250 million years ago, it became a shallow ocean.

Did you know 200-250 million years ago Frenchay Park Road was a desert? You can still see and touch the red sand.
