In search of self: art inspired by Glenside Museum
For Bristol Doors Open Day 2015 http;//www.bristolopeningdoors.org we launched an exhibition of art done by the custodians of our collection.
If you missed it, the exhibition is on until Christmas.
The Museum is managed, run and developed by a team of volunteers. They do a wide range of work for the Museum from changing light bulbs to producing written booklets on the research they have conducted. For our new exhibition they have used their talents to produce thought provoking sculpture, drawings, photographs, film, paintings and prints in response to our collection.
On the day some of our volunteers were in costume reflecting different aspects of the building’s history. Our creative and talented Ann Blannin made both the First World War outfits.
Henry Burdett the Victorian author and expert of the design of Asylums meets modern young museum visitor.
